Artist's Statement

I studied Communication Arts at Virginia Commonwealth University's School of Art, graduating in 2016. I was taught the timeless relationship between art and narrative - image and story. After spending several years in the big tech and design world, I find myself constantly turning back to my easel. I'm a painter at heart.

I've always been drawn to traditional mediums such as oil paint. I find the complicated technique and process of the work to be an important part of the art form. Inspired by the old masters, I hope to find a balance between the past, present, and future in my work. I focus on portraiture, whether that's humans, animals, or both. I like to observe those around me and perhaps I can tell their stories through my work.
